Copenhagen is coming

I’m virtually sure that everyone in the world has listened the word “Copenhagen” in the last weeks, but perhaps you didn’t realise. There is a reason why everyone has done. Copenhagen will be the venue of one of the most important meetings in our history.

Sure you know a lot about the Kyoto protocol. But now, our planet needs  a new climate agreement to stop climate change happening before it is too late. Climate Change is not something that will happen in the future: it is happening right now, and scientists do know.

After years of negotiations, next December our leaders will meet in Copenhagen in a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change‘s meeting. From 7th December all our leaders will discuss and they must make a deal.

Climate change is putting life on earth in peril. There is still time to build a greener, safer world. But the clock is ticking. In December world leaders will meet in Copenhagen to decide our destiny.

The real importance of the meeting

We know that our leaders are used to attending meetings but not agreeing, or even making promises that they don’t want to or they cannot fulfill. But this time it is different. Our planet could be over by 2050 according to scientific evidence. And “the world is ready” for a climate agreement.

After years of pre-negotiations, if our leaders don’t come to an agreement, that would mean the end. If years of negotiations become useless, and they don’t hear the world’s claim, a solution for the climate change would be almost impossible. And that is the reason why so many people are getting awareness of the importance of Copanhagen’s meeting and are getting involved.

More than 200 partners make up the tcktcktck campaign including Oxfam, Greenpeace, Amnesty International or WWF International to mention only some of them

Faith groups, unions, environmental and humanitarian organizations, civic leaders, and individuals from around the world are joining together in a global call to action. TckTckTck is the hub for mobilizing civil society and citizen support for a bold agreement on climate change in Copenhagen. The world is ready.

They have decided that acting together they have a really good chance of joining their efforts to make something big happen. The aim is simple: to do everything possible so that Copenhagen’s meeting ends with a “fair, ambicious and binding” deal.

Lots of campaigns, like 350.org or The Age of Stupid, are making all their work under the tcktcktck brand.

So far, almost 3 million citizens have joined the tcktcktck campaign. They are doing so much, that they have made december’s meeting to be the most expected event.

There are only 39 days left to the beginning of the meeting and the world is waiting.

Your information as it is presented still sounds inconclusive. I have yet to see or hear any of the proponents of global warming go head to head with experts in the fields of meteorology and climatology such as the ones presented by Christopher Monckton. I would like to hear a pro global warmer explain how many tons of carbon emission it would take to cause the 6 degree F. change in the average world temperature as did the scientists that Mr. Monckton presented. There is to much conjecture, smoke in mirrors, reliance from some celebrity mouth piece that the special interest groups use to sway opinions of people who unfortunately trust them. I can not and will not trust you. Even with all of your talk , evidence presented, your Al Gore inconvenient truth’s, your agenda is to vague, to sinister. No one in the world is that benevolent that they could actually DO NO HARM based on the outcome of the meeting at copenhagen which seems to laud the pro global warmers anyway.

First of all I’m sorry thay your comment wasn’t published immediately. As yours was the first comment in the blog, I didn’t know that I had to approve the comments by default. Now it’s no longer like this: I love freedom of expression and I will never delete a comment as long as it is polite and it doesn’t attack anyone.

Going back to your comment, I’m sorry that you don’t trust me. I didn’t intend to justify that climate change is happening as it is something that independent scientists have already proved lots of years ago. The difference is that we are now listening to them.

Please read what the United Nations say: http://www.un.org/wcm/content/site/climatechange/gateway based on scientific evidence.

Anyway, thank you for reading about the topic, taking it serious and using a little of your time to discuss about it.

I drop a leave a response whenever I appreciate a post on a website or if
I have something to add to the conversation. It is triggered by the passion displayed in
the article I read. And on this article Copenhagen is coming | something is
happening. I was moved enough to post a thought 😛 I
actually do have a couple of questions for you if it’s okay. Is it just me or do a few of the responses appear like written by brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are writing at additional online social sites, I would like to follow everything new you have to post. Could you make a list the complete urls of your public pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
